Vibrio cholerae is the causative agent of cholera.  To obtain the necessary iron for survival, this organism possesses a variety of iron acquisition systems.  The feoABC operon has been shown to transport ferrous iron, however little is known about the operon.  FeoB may be a GTPase, however, the functions of feoA and feoC are unknown.  I am investigating the role of feoC in ferrous iron transport in Vibrio cholerae.
