Most generic information about the course can be found under Syllabus.

What are PDF files? Why do I need Acrobat?
PDF files, represented on this site by the icon - - are documents created using Adobe Acrobat.  These files are quickly becoming a standard both in business and in academia.  They are special because they have been created using a specification that allows them to appear the same no matter what type of printer you print them out on, or type of computer you view them.  There are no issues with formatting (pictures or text running off the screen) because formatting is part of the file specification.

In order to view PDF files, you need a program called the Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer.  All campus computers will already have this installed.  If you have Acrobat reader, when you click on PDF files, Acrobat Reader will automatically open the document inside your web browser window.  If you do not have the reader, you can obtain it at the Adobe site here.

How do I navigate the website?
The site can be easily navigated by using the menu tabs at the top of every page.  They are listed as "Home", "Syllabus", "Lecture Topics", "Exams", "Discussion", and "Links".  Clicking on them will take you to the page listed.  You will notice that some pages have submenus that appear in the blue bar below the menu tabs.  Clicking on the individual selections in the menu bar will take you to that specified page.

How do I use the discussion board?
The discussion board is a place for you to ask questions regarding the class that might be confusing you, or to use as a forum for dialog.  Dr. Szaniszlo and the TA/grader of the class will usually be available through the board to answer your questions.

Click on the Discussion tab at the top of the page to enter the discussion board.  You'll be presented with instructions on how to post new messages (any questions or comments you might have), respond to messages (you might answer a colleague's question, or pose further questions related to the first), or search for messages (you can search the discussion board for keywords used in a message).  Each page within the discussion web has short instructions on how to operate it.  If you have further problems or are still confused about how to use the discussion board, contact the website administrator here.

Help!  My question isn't answered here!  Who can I contact for help?
