Back    Pereskia pititache. This cactus is in subfamily Pereskioideae, the cacti with large thin leaves and almost no succulence at all. However, they have spines that occur in clusters -- each is a modified leaf or bud scale, and below each cluster is the scar where an ordinary green photosynthetic leaf had been located.
