Back    Wide-band tracheids in cross-section view, Pelecyphora aselliformis. The cells with thin red walls near the top of the micrograph are vessels, those with green walls are parenchyma cells. Note that vessels and parenchyma are present mostly in a band near the top of the micrograph (with a few WBTS mixed in on the right) -- this may be earlywood. The large mass of WBTS making up the bulk of the photo may be latewood of the previous year.
