BIO 311-D.  Introduction to Biology II

Bio 311-D is a required course for students pursuing a Major in the Natural Sciences.  It provides an introduction to Organismal Biology by covering key aspects of the evolution, ecology and physiology of organisms.  The course explores the basic concepts behind the development, and diversification of the Earth’s biota, the structure and function of organisms, and the complex interrelationships between organisms and their environments.

I am currently team-teaching this course with Dr. Don Levin.  It is usually offered during the Fall.  A sample lecture outline is available here.

BIO 373. Ecology

Ecology is the scientific study of the complex interrelationships between organisms and their environments. This course surveys the major developments in the field of ecology and prepares students for further advanced study at the graduate or professional level. However, the course should appeal to anyone with a basic science background and an interest in learning about nature.

I am currently team-teaching this course with Dr. Mathew Leibold.  It is usually offered during the Spring.  A sample lecture outline is available here.
