Some CTMS Session Tunes
A version of the well-known reel Martin Wynne's #2 that is meant to be played slow!. The beautiful counter melody is by Gerald Trimble, Johnny Cunningham and Michael O'Dohmnaill and can be heard on Trimble's "First Flight" recording (Green Linnet, 1983).
Since most of you probably don't have this recording I'm providing a short MP3, MWynnes (excerpt), so that you can hear how the melody and counter-melody sound together. The file is an excerpt (third-time through the tune) from a practice CD of our old band, the Lost Pines Trio. That's Pat on harp (melody), Cambria Moss (now in Hawaii) on violin (counter-melody), and yours truly on guitar. We typically performed the tune (following the original arrangement) with solo melody the first time through, solo counter-melody the second time, and both on the final repeat of the tune. Note that the MP3 is 1:22 long and the download is 836kb in size.
