Welcome to the Ant Identification section of the Mueller Lab!

The purpose of this site is to provide students, teachers, and ant enthusiasts with resources for finding out more about ants in general.  As we continue to develop this site and expand our resource offerings, check out what we have for now:

Ant Identification Key Use an ant key to identify your specimen. Alternatively, if you know the species, use this key to confirm its identity by comparing its features against the key. In addition, obtain details on specific ant species.
Glossary Obtain definitions of terms used when describing ants.
Links Follow links to related sites.

Acknowledgments

The Museum of Comparative Zoology at Harvard University graciously allowed Nicola Plowes to photograph specimens.  Key and glossary information relied greatly on Hölldobler & Wilson 1990, Bolton 1994, and MacKay & MacKay 2003.  Funding was made possible through the UT PopBio Program and the National Science Foundation.
