The research in our laboratory has as its objective the analysis of the many modifications that occur to the structure of plants as they become adapted to their habitats. We use two groups of plants as the focus of our study: 1) cacti, and 2) parasitic plants. Cacti have evolved to be well adapted to extremely xeric conditions, and parasites are adapted to using the tissues of other plants as a significant part of their habitat.

Ferocactus sp.
