Welcome to the Vokes Lab at the University of Texas at Austin. Our major research interests lie in understanding the transcriptional and cis-regulatory mechanisms underlying cellular specification during the process of embryogenesis.

As developmental biologists, we are focused on applying these interests to the highly regulated biological process of limb outgrowth. In these studies we employ a combination of genetic, molecular and genomic approaches using the mouse as a model system. Click here for a detailed description.

Our current efforts on focused on two major questions:

  • What are the critical cis-regulatory interactions necessary for generating dynamic gene expression patterns during     development?
  • How are multiple signaling pathways integrated on the transcriptional level?
