Assistants & Interns The túngara project is conducted each summer at facilities of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Gamboa, Panama (to see a brief description of Gamboa facilities click click Facilities on bar on main web page). Each summer we hire interns through an Internship program at STRI.
To get an idea of a typical night of work on the tungara frog project, read A Night of Frogging.
We usually directly hire an additional assistant from the same pool, who is paid by our research funds. Thus for anyone interested in working on the túngara project in from June-August we urge them to apply to STRI directly for an Internship with Dr. Ryan on this project. There are usually two application deadlines, one in November and one in March, but you should check diretly with STRI. You apply through http://www.stri.org/english/education_fellowships/internships/index.php.
You should also send copies of all application materials and a brief note to Dr Ryan (mryan@mail.utexas.edu).
