Fig. 15.3-15. Transverse section of Aristolochia (a vine, sometimes called Dutchman’s pipe or birthwort). This sample was collected from a living vine, then processed such that the protoplasm of the axial parenchyma is visible (all the small cells with nuclei). The parenchyma cells are widely distributed throughout the axial system: this is diffuse parenchyma.
