University of Guadalajara Health Care in Mexico (HCiM) is a unique immersion experience for undergraduate students with academic credentials in basic sciences and some proficiency in verbal Spanish who
are planning for a career in a health profession and who would like to experience
health-care training at a medical school first-hand.
This program, provided through the
Study Abroad Office and the
College of Natural Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin,
is offered two times during the year. Summer program students take two language and/or culture courses during a five week preliminary program at the University
of Guadalajara language center (CEPE),
followed by four weeks of internship at the teaching hospital (CUCS).
The fall program begins with the training program at CEPE during the last
five weeks of summer and is followed by internships at CUCS during the fall
semester.
