flowers close up--how do these corollas differ from those of Phlox roemeriana? flowers again, showing the characteristic violet spot at the base of each corolla lobe

flowers in longitudinal view--do you see how the calyx lobes flare out?  Also, notice the long corolla tube. leaves--what kind of shape and margin are present?

 
leaves again, showing the long stiff hairs that cover the plant--this type of pubescence is referred to as pilose, and hence the epithet pilosa.  How do these leaves differ from those of Phlox drummondii?
