habit--Lindera benzoin is a small tree leaves
leaves again--what is the leaf arrangement present here?  What is the leaf complexity? leaf closeup--notice the slightly acuminate leaf apex and the entire margin
leaf underside--unlike the leaves of Persea borbonia, the leaves of Lindera are covered with short hairs on both sides and have more prominent venation leaves in Fall--the leaves of spicebush turn a brilliant yellow before they fall off!
